A partir de 1947, la production de motos reprit avec les modèles d'avant-guerre: NSU Quick, NSU 125 ZDB et NSU 251 OSL. En 1949, sortit le premier nouveau modèle, la NSU Fox 101 OSB. Au début des années 1950, le scooter d'Italie conquit l'Allemagne. NSU construisit tout d'abord l'Innocenti-Lambretta, sous licence. Par la suite, on construisit son propre modèle, la Prima. Au milieu des années 1950, NSU était le plus gros producteur de deux-roues du monde avec une production annuelle de 350000 exemplaires.
