Arthur Junghans était tellement convaincu par le concept américain de production, qu'il essaya au début de l'appliquer voire la copier à tous les domaines. Ils achetèrent des machines en Amérique. Pour chasser les Américains du marché européen, ils imitèrent les mécanismes américains. Leurs buts étaient l'interchangeabilité des pièces, les économies au niveau du matériau ainsi que la production de séries surtout de réveils et de pendules. Ils introduisirent le travail à la tâche. La simplification des tâches rendit possible l'embauche des femmes et travailleurs non-qualifiés.

In order to expel Americans from the European market, they imitated not only the American movements but also designs and trademarks. They aimed at replaceability of parts, saving of material and series production especially of alarm clocks and large size clocks. Piecework was introduced. By simplifying the single job steps manufacturers were enabled to employ unskilled workers and women.
