Zündapp, un des plus grands constructeurs de motos allemands, produisit à partir de 1953 des scooters. Le modèle Bella présentait un mariage réussi entre le design italien et la fonctionnalité allemande. Les motos DB (=Derby-Baureihe) étaient, dans les années 1930, les plus appréciées de leur catégorie. Les modèles DB 200-204 furent produits entre 1935-1940 et 1947-1951. A partir de 1958, Zündapp ne construisit plus que des mobylettes et petits engins. Après la faillite en 1984, les chaînes de production furent vendues à des chinois.

The Company for the production of fuses (Zünder) and apparatus, one of Germany’s big motor bike manufacturers, started building motor scooters in 1953. The scooter “Bella” was a successful mixture of Italian design and German functionality. The motor bikes of the “Derby Series” had been the most popular bikes in that class in the thirties. Models DB 200-204 were produced between 1935 and 1940 and between 1947 and 1951. As of 1958 only 50ccm-mopeds and small motor bikes were built. After the bankruptcy in 1984 the manufacturing facilities were sold to China.
